DAY ELEVEN
Your Favorite TV Shows
Unlike my husband, I’ve never been OVERLY obsessive with TV shows – although I love TV. Last Saturday, we drove to Time Warner Cable and turned in our cable box to save money (oh taxes, how I loathe thee). It was hard (and I almost cried) but actually, it hasn’t been that bad (so far). We found most of the TV shows we watch online, and otherwise we’ve just been filling our time with other things. In some ways, it’s probably a good thing.
As far as favorite TV shows – FRIENDS is probably my number one for many reasons. Stacey and I started watching the show on DVD, as it was actually in its final season (we don’t like to watch things that are popular – and in fact, I stayed away from it BECAUSE of its popularity for a long time). But…. it’s a solid comedy that stayed strong for 10 years. I feel like the “art” of the sitcom is generally being lost to “reality” TV nowadays, and I think that’s too bad. I can also watch it repeatedly (and have) but still laugh as hard as the first time I saw it. I can have entire conversations with Stacey in quotes from the show (and have). I made Stacey dance with me to theme song at my wedding (“I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts). It’s just all around my favorite show!
I’ve had many other “favorite” TV shows in my time, but they tend to just follow along with my interests at the time. From “Punky Brewster” to “A Wedding Story,” the shows I like tend to mirror where I’m at in life. I do have a soft spot for shows like Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, and Parenthood. Recently, my Dad suggested we watch the sitcom “The Middle” and that’s been super funny. We’ve also been taping Matthew Perry’s latest venture “Mr. Sunshine,” but I wouldn’t call any of them really my favorite, since I won’t watch most episodes more than once.
So… there ya have it! See you for Day 12!
