Your Favorite Movie
This is a tough one…I have many favorite movies, spanning action & sci-fi geekdom, to comedies, to chick flicks…one just occured to me off the top of my head, though, one that I’ve loved since I was a child, and remains a favorite to this day and probably the most long-standing favorite on my favorites list. And that movie is…
GHOSTBUSTERS! Besides being the only 27-year-old movie on my list (most of my other favorites are from the past 10 to 20 years, except “Star Wars” which I didn’t see until the 90s so it doesn’t count as being older), I noticed just a second ago, as I was typing the different movie genres that I like, that “Ghostbusters” fits into ALL of them…except maybe chick flick…although who didn’t get a little teary at the end when, upon beating the giant Marshmellow Man, Dr. Venkman (Bill Murray) found his girl (Sigourney Weaver) turned into a dog and frozen as a lifeless dog statue forever..well until 5 seconds later when she broke out all human and alive…but it was a tearjerker for a second there!
This movie had a great cast of 80’s actors and actresses, and a memorable theme song! It is also probably one of the most quotable movies out there, from “GET HER!” to “Ray, if someone asks you if you’re a god, you say ‘YES’!” Anyway, I could go on, but chances are you’ve seen it, and if you haven’t go out and rent it, because I won’t do it justice talking about it on this blog post!
So there you have it! My on-the-spot choice for favorite movie! It surprised me a little, but I can see why I chose it! Honorable mention goes to: “Star Wars” Episodes III-VI, “Batman”, “Batman Begins”, “The Dark Knight”, “Spider-Man”, “Spider-Man 2”, “Spider-Man 3”, The “Back To The Future” Trilogy, “South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut”, The “Indiana Jones” quadrilogy, the “Hellboy” movies, “Transformers” movies (past and present), “Masters of the Universe”, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” 1-3, and probably some others I’m not thinking of.
